Petitioner's vehicle bearing registration No.KL-55L-4248 has been seized by the Village Officer alleging that the petitioner has contravened the provisions of the Kerala Conservation of Paddy Land and Wet Land Act, 2008.
2. Petitioner has an alternate remedy before the District Collector. Therefore petitioner shall approach the District Collector for interim custody. If the petitioner moves an application for interim custody before the District Collector, that application shall be considered by the District Collector within a period of week on receipt of such application. It is open for the District Collector to release the vehicle on furnishing security, either by immovable property or bank guarantee, for a value of 1.5times of the value of the vehicle. The District Collector shall conclude the proceedings for confiscation within a period of two months.
The Writ Petition is disposed of as above.
