JUDGMENT / ORDER

THE HON’BLE SRI JUSTICE P.NAVEEN RAO WRIT PETITION No.29065 of 2014 ORDER :
The petitioner was issued passport on 24.09.2003 valid for a period of five years. The passport expired in the year 2008. Now, the petitioner applied for issuance of fresh passport. While submitting an application for issuance of passport which was acknowledged by the respondent on 25.08.2014, the petitioner has also requested for correction of date of birth, place of birth recorded in the expired passport and the petitioner claims that her name is Muchalli Muni Dimple, whereas, in the expired passport it was typed as Muchel Muni Dimpul and the date of birth is recorded as 14.01.1998 whereas her correct date of birth is 14.01.1997 and the place of birth is recorded as Srikalahasthi instead of Hyderabad.

Learned Counsel for the petitioner submits that at the time when the passport was issued, the petitioner was a minor and it is not known how a declaration was made regarding her date of birth, name and place of birth and thus, having noticed that wrong entries are made, the petitioner has applied for correction of date of birth, place of birth as well as name and to issue a fresh passport. But so far no orders are passed.
3. Having regard to the said submissions, without expressing any opinion on merits the writ petition is disposed of directing the respondent Passport authority to consider the application submitted by the petitioner for correction of date of birth, place of birth and change of name and pass appropriate orders duly taking note of the certificates submitted by the petitioner and communicate the decision within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. There shall be no order as to costs.
4. Miscellaneous petitions, if any, pending in this writ petition, shall stand closed.
