JUDGMENT / ORDER

It is represented that the appeal filed by the petitioner before the Revenue Divisional Officer, Chengalpattu, has been disposed of by the Sub-Collector (Trainee), Chengalpattu, vide proceedings in Na.Ka.554/2016/A dated 23.06.2017, in and by which it was rejected and the petitioner was granted liberty to file an appeal before the jurisdictional District Revenue Officer, Kanchipuram within 30 days from the date of receipt of the said order.
2. Mr.R.Ramanlaal, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that in the light of the said order, the petitioner may be granted liberty to file an appeal before the Appellate Authority and as and when, it was filed, it may be given expeditious disposal.
3. Per contra, Mr.K.V.Dhanapalan, learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondent/contemnor would submit that though this Court has issued statutory notice to the respondent on 01.06.2017, the District Revenue Officer, Chengalpattu is unwell and therefore, prays for dispensing with his personal appearance.
4. This Court has accepted the reason for non-appearance of the District Revenue Officer, Chengalpattu, in pursuant to the issuance of statutory notice. Hence, the personal appearance of the District Revenue Officer, Chengalpattu is dispensed with.
5. In the light of the above, the petitioner is at liberty to file an appeal, challenging the order of the Sub-Collector (Trainee), Chengalpattu dated 23.06.2017 to the jurisdictional District Revenue Officer within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and upon receipt of the same, the Appellate Authority/District Revenue Officer, Kancheepuram is directed to entertain the appeal, if the papers are otherwise in order and after putting the concerned person(s) on notice, shall dispose of the appeal as expeditiously as possible and not later than six weeks thereafter and communicate the decision taken, to the petitioner as well as to the person (s) concerned.
6. This Contempt Petition is closed with the above observations.
