JUDGMENT / ORDER

This writ petition has been filed, seeking a direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner's application dated 22.06.2017 for issuance of new Passport in File No.MD 2060348445717 and thereby issue Passport to the Petitioner within the time limit that may be stipulated by this Court.
2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Solicitor General, appearing for the respondent. By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.
3. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner applied for passport before the respondent. Subsequently, the petitioner was called for an explanation in respect of the criminal cases against him. Despite the petitioner's explanation twice along with details of the two criminal cases, the respondent has not issued any passport. He would further submit that there are no criminal cases pending against the petitioner as of now.
4. The learned Additional Solicitor General appearing for the respondent would submit that due the adverse police report, the petitioner was not issued with the passport and the petitioner's application along with explanation would be considered on merits within the time stipulated by this Court.
5. Considering the limited scope of the relief sought in this writ petition, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the respondent to consider the application of the petitioner dated 22.06.2017 and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, after affording due opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. The writ petition is disposed of as above. No costs. .
