Heard learned counsel for the petitioner. Learned Standing Counsel has appeared for the respondents.
The petitioner has preferred this petition with the following prayers:-
(i) Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus commanding the respondents and directing them to provide necessary security on the occasion on coming Eid festival in respect religious Sacrifice/qurbani of animals (goat, sheep or camels) on the occasion of Eid.
(ii) Issue any other relief which this Hon'ble Court may deem fit and proper in the circumstances of the case.
(iii) To award the cost of the writ petition to the petitioner.
The gist of the reliefs claimed by the petitioner is that the necessary security be provided on the occasion of the Eid festival for the sacrifice of animals.
The petitioner has not disclosed as to the person who is in need of the security.
Learned counsel for the petitioner argued that as there are chances of disturbances on the occasion of Eid, the local administration may be directed to ensure security.
The anxiety of the petitioner appears to be regarding law & order situation on Eid.
The maintenance of law and order situation is the responsibility of the local administration and that it cannot be presumed that they will not take appropriate steps for its on the occasion of the Eid.
The petitioner has filed this petition merely on apprehension and as such, we do not deem it necessary to issue any direction of the kind as prayed for by the petitioner.
The writ petition is dismissed with the observation as made above.
