Heard Sri Rajesh Kumar Dubey for the writ petitioner; learned Standing Counsel for the respondents 1 to 4; and have perused the record.
The petitioner claims himself to be a senior citizen and father of the respondents 5 and 6. It appears that by invoking the provisions of Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 read with U.P. Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizen Rules, 2014, the petitioner has moved an application before the District Magistrate, Prayagraj for seeking protection orders against the respondents 5 and 6.
The grievance is that the application submitted by the petitioner has not yet been addressed and is pending.
Under the circumstances, we deem it appropriate to dispose off this petition by requiring the District Magistrate, Prayagraj to address the application of the petitioner, under the provisions of Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 read with U.P. Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizen Rules, 2014, expeditiously and in accordance with law, after giving opportunity of hearing to the respondents 5 and 6.
It is made clear that we have not expressed any opinion on the merits of the case.
The petition stands disposed off.
