Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Standing Counsel for respondents State.
It is contended by learned counsel for petitioner that application for grant of firearm license was rejected by licensing authority vide order order dated 20.06.2020, against which an appeal under Section 18 was preferred before respondent no. 2, which is pending consideration since 16.04.2021. The sole prayer is for early disposal of the appeal.
Learned Standing Counsel does not oppose the limited prayer so made for early disposal of the appeal.
As no useful purpose would be served in keeping the matter pending, with the consent of the parties, the matter is being disposed of at this stage without calling for counter affidavit, with a direction upon respondent no. 2 to decide appeal of petitioner, Mohd. Hasim vs. State of U.P. and another, dated 16.04.2021, if there are no legal impediments and after hearing all the concerned parties, strictly in accordance with law by reasoned and speaking order, expeditiously, preferably within a period of three months from the date of production of copy of this order, downloaded from the official website of Allahabad High Court.
Writ petition stands disposed of.
