ORDER:
Questioning the action of the respondents in not promoting the petitioners from 2nd semester of 2nd year to 1st semester of 3rd year B.Tech course, on the ground that they fell short of required 40 credits, the petitioners have filed the present writ petition.
At the hearing, it is not disputed by the learned counsel for the petitioners that as per the Regulations of respondent No.1 University, if a student falls short of 40 credits, he/she is not entitled to promotion to the next year. It is also not disputed by the learned counsel that his clients have fallen short of 40 credits in the 2nd year B.Tech course.
In the face of these admitted facts, the detention of the petitioners in 2nd year B.Tech. course, which is in conformity with the University Regulations, cannot be termed as illegal or arbitrary. This Court cannot entertain any writ petition and grant relief, which runs contrary to the University Regulations.
Therefore, I do not find any merit in this writ petition and the same is accordingly dismissed.
As a sequel to the dismissal of the writ petition, W.P.M.P.No.47501 of 2014 shall stand disposed of as infructuous.
