Learned counsel for petitioners undertakes that he shall remove the defects pointed out by the Registry within a period of ten days of the withdrawal of lock-down restrictions.
Heard learned counsel for petitioners, Mr. Rakesh Kumar Chaudhary, learned counsel for State Election Commission and learned Standing counsel for State-respondents.
By the present writ petition, petitioners have challenged the result of election for the post of Gram Pradhan.
Mr. Rakesh Kumar Chaudhary, learned counsel for Election Commission and learned Standing Counsel raises a preliminary objection that petitioners have statutory alternative remedy to file an election petition against the result of election of Gram Pradhan under Section 12-C of U.P. Panchayat Raj Act, 1947.
In view thereof, present writ petition is disposed of with liberty to the petitioners to approach the appropriate forum by filing an election petition.
In case such an election petition is filed, the concerned tribunal is expected to consider and decide the same as expeditiously as possible in accordance with law.
