The petitioner is a senior citizen and is holding Passport bearing No.M.2190093. The date of birth shown in the passport is wrong entered as 14/8/1934. The actual date of birth of the petitioner is 29/7/1945. The petitioner approached the Passport Authorities for correcting the date of birth in the Passport. On account of non consideration of her request, the petitioner approached this Court. 2. The learned Assistant Solicitor General submits that at the time of applying for the Passport, it is stated in the affidavit that the petitioner is illiterate and inadequate. Now the petitioner has produced Ext.P2 school admission extract. Ext.P2 could have been in her possession at the time of applying for the passport. The petitioner is suppressing the actual date of birth.
3. This Court in the decision in Nizar v. Union of India W.P.(c).No. 31749 of 2014 : 2 :
(2014 (4) KLT 609) held that the Passport Authority can make necessary corrections in the entry relating to the date of birth without insisting for any orders. However, correction can be made only after satisfied with the genuineness of the petitioner's claim. Therefore, the petitioner has to explain the reason for non production of Ext.P2 school admission extract before the Passport Authority at the time of applying for the Passport. On being satisfied with the genuineness of the petitioner's claim, necessary correction shall be made by the Passport Authority in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment.
The writ petition is disposed of as above.
