(Order of the Court was made by the Acting Chief Justice) The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking issuance of a writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to remove the unwanted dumping materials adjoining the electrical transformer and on the either side of the entrance of the Jayaram street-Anna Salai Junction, Saidapet, Chennai- 600015 on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated 28.12.2016.
2. Pursuant to the notice ordered by this Court, the learned counsel appearing for the first respondent/Corporation filed a counter affidavit stating that after inspection of the site, the palettes and name boards, etc. kept by the shop keepers were removed and the said area has been cleaned and a warning board has been placed not to dump any garbage in the said site. To fortify the said stand, the first respondent has also produced photographs before this Court. We take on record the same.

It is, however, the apprehension of the petitioner that after lapse of some time, the residents will start dumping garbage and, therefore, the respondents should periodically inspect the site and ensure that adjoining the electrical transformer and on the either side of the entrance of the Jayaram street-Anna Salai Junction, Saidapet, Chennai- 600015, unwanted materials are not dumped.

On hearing the learned counsel for the parties, we make it clear that the petitioner, on his part, should also take steps to create awareness among the people of the locality and advise the persons who are doing the mischief to refrain from such activities explaining the dangers involved in dumping garbage near the transformer and the health hazards involved in dumping garbage on the road sides. The respondent authorities are directed to take necessary action as and when required.
The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.
