The School Games Federation of India, rep. by its President, Shastri Bhavan, New Delhi – 110 009. ..Respondents Prayer: Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issue of a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus to call for the records relating to the order of the 1st respondent in G.O.(ID) No. 121, School Education (V2) Department dated 09.04.2010 and quash the same and consequently forbearing respondents 1 and 2 from preventing the petitioner in participating in all the sports events selection for the State Team including the School Games Federation of India being conducted by the Respondents for the school students in the State of Tamil Nadu.

Advocate O R D E R The petitioner's son was a student, studying in X standard in Jawahar Higher Secondary School in Neyveli during 2010. The petitioner contends that his son is a good basketball player and has participated in a number of District Level Tournaments. According to the petitioner, his son is also proficient enough to compete with higher levels and higher age groups making him a unique talented child. Though, till the year 2007-2008, athletes and sportspersons studying in various CBSE schools in the State of Tamil Nadu were allowed to participate in Team Games and individual events, competitions held by the respondents and till the above academic year, only the merit certificates issued by the 1st respondent were taken into consideration for the purpose of selection of candidates from both CBSE and http://www.judis.nic.inState Board Schools in the sports quota in admission to professional and other educational courses in the State of Tamil Nadu, during the academic year 2008-2009, the 2nd respondent released an order dated 23.07.2008, by which the participation of CBSE schools in all the sports competitions held by the School Education Department of the State of Tamil Nadu stood cancelled. The said order is being challenged in this writ petition.
2. In the year 2010, the petitioner's son was a school student. Now, seven years have gone by and by this time, the petitioner's son's eligibility to take part in school events would have been lost. Therefore, the writ petition stands dismissed as infructuous. No costs. Connected M.P. is closed.
