JUDGMENT / ORDER

The petitioner has approached this Court on account of non- consideration of the request for correction of Passport pertaining to the date of birth.
2. In this matter, a statement has been filed. Paragraph-8 of the statement reads as follows:
“The Passport Offices and the various Passport Seva Kendras function on the basis of the rules formulated by the Ministry of External Affairs from time to time. Clearly, Passport Issuing Authority (PIA) is vested with sufficient powers to effect correction in date of birth in this case, provided the petitioner produces proof of his correct date of birth as laid out in the above rules. All documents in original have to be produced for verification along with an explanation as to how the error occurred in the passport.”
In view of the statement as above, if the petitioner produces authenticated or original record regarding proof of birth, the same W.P.(C) No.24466 of 2014 2 shall be considered for the purpose of correction of the Passport. Needful shall be done within a period of four weeks from the date of production of such copies of documents by the petitioner.
The writ petition is disposed of as above.
