JUDGMENT / ORDER

This Writ petition has been filed by the petitioner for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to dispose of the petitioner's appeal, dated 27.10.2009 within the time that may be stipulated by this court as against the punishment of increment cut for 2 years with cumulative effect imposed by the General Manager, Pudukottai Region of the respondent corporation.
2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent.
3. Mr.D.Sivaraman, learned Standing Counsel takes notice for the respondent. By consent, the Writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.
4. Considering the limited scope of the request of the learned counsel for the Writ petitioner, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Court is inclined to issue the following direction:-
?The respondent/Managing Director is directed to dispose of the appeal, dated 27.10.2009, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.?
5. Accordingly, the Writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
