Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel for the respondent-Municipality, apart from perusing the record. Since the issue lies in a narrow compass, this Court proposes to dispose of the writ petition at the admission stage itself.
2. Briefly stated, the petitioner, a sanitation worker having worked as a contingent employee, retired from the service of the respondent - Municipality on 31.5.2011. Though the retirement benefits of the petitioner have been settled, in the light of pension revision dated 24.4.2013 with effect from 1.7.2009, the petitioner claims arrears of other revised terminal benefits. Complaining of delay in that regard, the petitioner filed the present Writ Petition.

3. The respondent-Municipality filed a statement admitting the claim of the petitioner, save the quantum, regarding which there is a dispute. The learned Standing Counsel has sought four months time to settle all the claims of the petitioner.

In the facts and circumstances, having regard to the respective submissions of the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel for the respondent Municipality, this Court, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, disposes of the present writ petition with a direction to the respondent -Municipality to settle and pay the arrears of revised pension and other accrued benefits, after hearing the petitioner on the issue of quantum, and take necessary steps in that regard, as expeditiously as possible, at any rate, within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment.
