The petitioner, a registered owner of a heavy goods vehicle bearing No.KL-46/G 1271, seeks an installment facility for payment of tax arrears for the period 01.04.2013 to 31.05.2014. The net amount is stated to be Rs.39,440/- plus additional tax. It is submitted by the petitioner that the vehicle could not be operated as it was garaged for repairs.
2. I have heard the learned Government Pleader appearing on behalf of respondent.
3. In the facts and circumstances of the case, I dispose the writ petition with the following directions:
i) The petitioner shall be permitted to clear the tax arrears for the period 01.04.2013 to 31.05.2014 in four equal monthly instalments, commencing from 01.06.2014.
ii) The petitioner shall also pay the current tax and additional tax over and above the payments referred to above as a condition for operating the vehicle.
With these directions this writ petition is disposed of.
