This writ petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondent police to give police protection and permission to conduct the cultural programme at Pudhupatti Mariamman Periya Krishnapuram Vazhlapadi, Salem District on 05.04.2017 in the event of Pudhupatti Mariamman Kovil Masi Thiruvizha, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 17.03.2017.

It is the grievance of the petitioner that he has submitted a representation dated 17.03.2017 to the respondents, seeking permission to conduct Cultural Programme at Pudhupatti Mariamman Periya Krishnapuram Vazhlapadi, Salem District on 05.04.2017 in the event of Pudhupatti Mariamman Kovil Masi Thiruvizha. However, the respondent denied the permission to conduct the programme. Hence, this petition.
3. Though the petitioner sought for permission to conduct “cultural programme”, learned counsel for the petitioner restricted the same to the extent of conducting Orchestra, for which, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents has raised no serious objection.
4. In view of the submission so made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, the respondents are directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 17.03.2017 and grant permission to the petitioner to conduct Orchestra at Pudhupatti Mariamman Periya Krishnapuram Vazhlapadi, Salem District on 05.04.2017 in the event of Pudhupatti Mariamman Kovil Masi Thiruvizha, subject to usual conditions. It is made clear that this Court has not granted any direction to conduct “Adal Padal Nigazhchi / dance programme” in the name of “cultural programme”.
5. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly.
