JUDGMENT / ORDER

Petitioner has approached this Court seeking the following reliefs:
“i) To issue a Writ of Mandamus or any other writ directions or orders directing the 2nd respondent to renew Ext.P9/passport from 10/09/2014, considering Ext.P8/application.
ii) To issue a writ of Mandamus or any other writ directions or orders directing the 3rd respondent to forward necessary report to the 2nd respondent for the purpose of renewing Ext.P9/passport from 10/09/2014, considering Ext.P8 application.”
2. The facts involved in the case would disclose that the petitioner originally had two passports. Later, the same was surrendered and he was issued with Ext.P9 passport. However, the petitioner approached for renewal of passport before the 2nd respondent. On the 2nd respondent requesting W.P.C.No.9140/2014 2 for police verification, it is reported by the police that the petitioner was holding multiple passports. According to the petitioner, since his multiple passports were already surrendered and he was issued with new passport as Ext.P9, the information supplied by the police authorities to the 2nd respondent is absolutely incorrect and therefore he seeks the reliefs, as prayed for.
3. Learned Standing Counsel, on behalf of respondents, has filed a statement inter alia stating that on further verification, the police had given a report to the 2nd respondent stating that the petitioner has already surrendered the multiple passports in the year 2012 and presently the petitioner is holding one passport which can be renewed. Under these circumstances, the petitioner will have to approach the 2nd respondent for renewal of his passport.
Under these circumstances, this writ petition is disposed of as under:
W.P.C.No.9140/2014 3 Petitioner shall file a fresh application to the 2nd respondent who shall consider the matter and renew the passport of the petitioner based on the recommendation of the police which is already forwarded to the 2nd respondent.
