This writ petition has been filed, seeking a direction to the 1st respondent to dispose of the appeal preferred by the petitioner dated 03.02.2017.
2. Heard the learned counsel on either side. By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal.

The learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that one Power Agent by name M.Chandrasekaran sold a vacant land, measuring to an extent of 9515 sq.ft., which was earmarked for park, by retaining another portion of the Park and Road with him. Subsequently, he approached the concerned Tahsildar for issuance of joint patta and the Tahsildar, without verifying the layout plan and without notice to anyone, granted a joint patta. Aggrieved by the same, the appeal filed by the petitioner on 03.02.2017 to the Assistant Settlement Officer of Survey and Settlement, Chepauk, Chennai / 1st respondent herein, has been kept pending for a quite long time without passing any orders thereon and therefore, the petitioner is before this Court with the above prayer.
4. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents would submit that if a reasonable time is granted to the 1st respondent, the appeal filed by the petitioner will be disposed of.

In view of the above submission, this Court directs the 1st respondent to dispose of the petitioner's appeal, if not already disposed of, on merits and in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and other interested parties, if any.
With the above direction, this petition is disposed of. No costs.
