JUDGMENT / ORDER

The writ petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to provide adequate police protection for the celebration of Pongal festival scheduled to be held on 14.01.2017 and 15.01.2017 by the villagers of Thiruvudaiyar patti village in light or the order made by this Hon'ble Court in W.P.(MD)No.444 of 2014, dated 08.01.2014 and W.P(MD)No.143 of 2013, dated 09.01.2013.
2. Mr.K.P.Krishna Doss, learned Government Advocate, takes notice for the respondents. By consent, the writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.
3. Heard the learned senior counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents.
4. The learned senior counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the programme is being conducted by the villagers regularly in order to promote harmony during the above said festival period; that a representation was given to the respondent, but, however, the same was not considered by the respondent so far and hence, the petitioner is before this Court with this writ petition. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would further submit that as the aforesaid festival is celebrated in a peaceful manner by the villagers, there will be no untoward incident on account of this celebration.
5.The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents, on instructions, would submit that the permission sought for by the petitioner may be granted with appropriate and stringent conditions for maintaining law and order and also to avoid any untoward incident during performance of such programme.
6. Considering the facts and circumstances, the 3rd respondent police is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 22.12.2016 and pass orders upon the prevailing situation on or before 13.01.2017, as the said programme is scheduled to be held on 14.01.2017 and 15.01.2017.
7. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No Costs.
