JUDGMENT / ORDER

The society has filed the writ petition on behalf of the members. In the year 1985 the respondent/Electricity Board proposed to establish a Major Thermal Plant in Ennore Island for which it acquired vast extend of land in Pulidivakam Village and Ennore Village.
2.It is stated by the petitioner, that 62 families were dependent on the acquired land. At the time of acquisition, the respondent/Electricity Board promised to give employment to the 62 families, who will be displaced by the acquisition proceedings. However, after the acquisition process was completed, the members of the petitioners society were not given any employment. It is further stated that a scheme has been framed by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board on 25.01.1990 to provide employment to displaced land owners. Therefore, the writ petition has been filed seeking appropriate relief under the said scheme. In view of the inaction on the part of the respondent in spite of several request the present writ petition has been filed.
3.The learned counsel for the respondents stated that the Board will find it difficult to process any claim as no individual claim is made in terms of the scheme. If the petitioners, make individual claim, such representations will be considered by the Board in accordance with the scheme and the law as applicable. He stated that a reasonable time may be fixed by this Court in this regard.
4.Considering the nature of relief sought for by the society and the difficulty expressed by the respondent in deciding the claim by the society, the individuals are directed to file separate claims under the scheme, for suitable employment under the displaced the land owners category. The petitioners are directed to file individual representation setting out in the claim for employment in terms of the scheme dated 25.01.1990. Any such representation made along with a copy of this order will be considered by the Board within a period of eight weeks from the date of such representation. The writ petition stands disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
