[Order of the Court was made by A.SELVAM, J.] This writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to direct the respondents to deepen the water tanks mentioned in the petition, by way of issuing a writ of mandamus.
2.Mr.D.Muruganandam, learned Additional Government Pleader, has taken notice for the respondents.
3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner has contended that the tanks mentioned in the petition are situate in various villages in Thoothukudi District and the same have not been deepened quite for a long time and under the said circumstances a representation has been given, but the same has not been considered and therefore the present writ petition has been filed.
4.The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents has represented that only after removal of seemai karuvelam trees, work of deepening the water tanks mentioned in the petition can be done.
5.Considering the rival representations made on either side and also considering the fact that already a representation has been given, this Court is inclined to pass the following order.
6.In fine, this writ petition is allowed without costs and the respondents are directed to deepen the water tanks mentioned in the petition within a period of six months.
