JUDGMENT / ORDER

The grievance of the petitioners in the writ petition concerns the pitiable condition of the road between the Mampuzha Melethil and Vilayil Junction within the limits of the third respondent Panchayat. According to the petitioners, the road needs lateral support as also maintenance with metalling and black toping and nothing is done for a long time. 2. The learned counsel for the third respondent Panchayat submitted that for the proper maintenance of the road, the height of the road has to be reduced by removing the red earth used for forming the road and the same can be done only with the permission of a Geologist. According to the counsel, though the permission of the Geologist was sought, the same is yet to be obtained by the Panchayat. It is submitted that immediately on receiving the permission of the Geologist, the road will be repaired and maintained by doing metalling and black toping, by including the project in one of the existing schemes of the Panchayat.
In the circumstances, this writ petition is disposed of directing the third respondent Panchayat to expedite the process initiated by it W.P.(C).No.28891 of 2014 2 for obtaining the permission of the Geologist and complete the works contemplated in respect of the road, within six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment.
