This writ petition has been preferred seeking a writ of mandamus directing the respondents 1 and 2 to make regular statutory deduction of Rs.17,940/- towards GPF contribution every month from the month of December 2016 till March 2019 from the petitioner's salary on the basis of his representations dated 09.01.2017 and 30.01.2017.
2 The petitioner joined as Director of Physical Education in the second respondent university on 19.07.2007 in a regular and permanent vacancy. He was also given full additional charge as Registrar-in-charge from 24.07.2008 to 05.10.2010 and from 21.09.2015 to 26.07.2016 and also as Controller of Examinations-in charge from 23.10.2008 to 26.01.2010, owing to which, according to the petitioner, he is entitled to be in service till attaining the age of 60 years. However, the second respondent stopped the petitioner's statutory GPF deduction from his salary from the month of December 2016. Feeling aggrieved, the petitioner addressed representations dated 09.01.2017 and 30.01.2017 requesting to deduct GPF contribution of Rs.17,940/- from his salary from the month of December 2016. Finding no response to the same, he has filed the instant writ petition seeking the aforestated relief.
3 In view of the limited relief sought by the petitioner, without going into the merits of the matter, this Court directs the first respondent to consider and pass orders on the petitioner's representations dated 09.01.2017 and 30.01.2017 on their own merits and in accordance with law within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
With the above direction, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs. Connected W.M.P. is closed.
