Heard Sri Sunil Vashisth, learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Standing Counsel for the State respondents.
Present writ petition has been filed for quashing the show cause notice/order dated 9.10.2020 passed by District Magistrate, Meerut in Case No. D202011520003694, under Section 17 of Arms Act.
It is submitted by learned counsel for the petitioner that show cause notice is totally illegal and explanation was called as to why arm licence issued in favour of the petitioner be not cancelled.
Learned Standing Counsel submits that show cause notice issued to the petitioner is within the competence of District Magistrate as required under Section 17 of Arms Act and the petitioner has alternative remedy to approach before District Magistrate by submitting his explanation.
I do not find any illegality or infirmity in the impugned show cause notice. The petitioner has alternative remedy to submit his explanation to the concerned District Magistrate.
The writ petition lacks merit and is, accordingly, dismissed. No order as to cost.
