Heard learned counsel for the parties.
The prayer in the present petition is to issue a direction to the District Magistrate, Kannauj to consider the application moved by the petitioner for grant of firearm licence on 4.2.2018 in the prescribed proforma.
In paragraphs '5', '6' and '7' of the writ petition, it is contended that the petitioner has moved application in the prescribed proforma before the District Magistrate, upon which after fulfilling all the requisite formalities, the reports of the competent authority have been obtained by the District Magistrate and the said application registered and entered in the file of the office of the District Magistrate.
In view of the said contention, without expressing any opinion on the merits of claim of the petitioner, the present writ petition is being disposed of with the direction to the District Magistrate, Kannauj to consider and decide the application dated 4.2.2018 of the petitioner for grant of firearm licence, in accordance with law, expeditiously, preferably within a period of three months from the date of submission of certified copy of this order, after seeking requisite reports.
It goes without saying that this Court has not entered into the merits of the claim made by the petitioner. The competent authority shall apply his own mind with the application independently and take a decision on merits.
