Aggrieved by order dated 27.9.2016 in Misc. Civil Appeal No.27 of 2016 by which the appellate court, while admitting the appeal, directed the parties to maintain status quo, the instant petition has been filed. The further prayer made in the instant petition is for issuing direction to the appellate court to decide stay application 4-C within a stipulated period.
Indisputably, the interim order of status quo is in operation since 27.9.2016 and as such, this Court finds no justification in setting aside the said order. In my opinion, interest of justice would be served in directing the appellate court to decide the appeal expeditiously.
Accordingly the appellate court is directed to decide the appeal expeditiously within a period of eight weeks from the date of production of a certified copy of this order, provided there is no legal impediment.
The petition stands disposed of accordingly.
