Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a writ of certiorarified mandamus calling for the records of the second respondent viz. the Tax Recovery Officer (AIR), Chennai in his Proceedings No.AE/476/86/ACC/S30/1287/86 dated 13.06.91 and Demand Notice No.RRY No.5/2001/AIR dated 24.09.2001 and to quash the same and direct the respondents to pass orders revoking the impugned demand notices.

vga O R D E R This writ petition is filed challenging proceedings for recovery of an amount of Rs.5,00,000/- dated 15.12.2001 in terms of the Customs Act 1961.
2. An amount of Rs.2.5 lakhs has been ordered to be paid by this Court vide order dated 25.08.2003 and learned counsel would confirm compliance thereof.
3. Be that as it may, since the proceedings based on which the recovery is initiated have not been challenged and has attained finality, the balance demand is liable to be paid forthwith by the petitioner in accordance with law.
4. This writ petition is dismissed. No costs.
