Sri M.M. Sahai appearing for the respondents has apprised the Court that a cheque of requisite amount has been handed over to the petitioner on 26.11.2019. Learned counsel submits that on payment of the amount of gratuity, no further grievance survives.
Petitioner admittedly retired in the year 2010. Under the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972, the petitioner would also be entitled to interest on the delayed payment of gratuity. The respondents, therefore, are directed to compute the interest payable to the petitioner and release the same within a period of three months from today. The rate of interest would be as per the provisions of the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972.
The writ petition, accordingly, is disposed of.
