Heard learned counsel for the applicant.
A writ petition preferred by him was disposed of on 5 October 2017 requiring the District Magistrate, Basti to take an appropriate decision on the complaint of the applicant that his private land had been utilized in the course of widening of a barrage. The applicant has consequently prayed for payment of compensation. It is alleged that the District Magistrate has not taken any steps in respect of this complaint of the applicant till date. The learned Standing Counsel informs the Court that in terms of a Government Order dated 12 May 2016 a committee headed by the A.D.M., F. & R. concerned, has been constituted at the district level and it is this committee which is charged with disposal of such claims. In view thereof, this petition shall stand disposed of with a direction to the District Magistrate, Basti to place the application of the applicant before the concerned committee forthwith. The committee shall in consequence take a decision on the application within a period of one month from today. Learned Standing Counsel shall apprise the District Magistrate, Basti of the passing of this order.
