Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and Sri Sanjai Singh, learned counsel for the respondent Bank.
This petition is directed against an order dated 12.2.2020, whereby petitioner's claim for grant of compassionate appointment has been rejected.
Perusal of the record would go to show that petitioner's father was employed in the respondent Bank and died in the year 1998. Petitioner claims to be minor at that point of time.
Upon a pointed query of this Court, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that petitioner's date of birth is 6.1.1987 and going by such date of birth petitioner attained the age of majority in 2005. There is absolutely no reason why the petitioner did not raise a claim for compassionate appointment soon thereafter and in the event such claim was not considered by the authorities he could have approached this Court.
Object of the compassionate appointment is to provide immediate relief to the family in distress due to loss of the sole bread earner. Such consideration would not remain relevant after expiry of such long period of 22 years. In such circumstances, if petitioner's claim for grant of compassionate appointment is rejected, no exception can be taken. Order impugned cannot be said to be illegal or arbitrary.
Writ petition lacks merit and is dismissed.
