The petitioner, having retired from the service of the respondent University on 31.05.2007 as Deputy Comptroller, had all her terminal benefits settled and paid. According to her, she has not been paid the arrears in the light of the pay revisions that took place while the petitioner was in service. 2. In all fairness, the learned Standing Counsel has admitted that the respondent University is bound to pay the arrears of pensionary benefits to the petitioner, but it could not comply with the statutory requirements expeditiously in view of precarious financial position of the University. The learned Standing Counsel, W.P.(c) No. 31833 of 2014 2 however, undertakes that the respondent University is willing to settle all the benefits of the petitioner within six months.
3. Accordingly, recording the undertaking of the learned Standing Counsel for the respondent University, this Court disposes of the writ petition with a direction to the respondent University to settle all the pension arrears to the petitioner, as expeditiously as possible, at any rate, within a period of six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment. It is made clear that if the petitioner is statutorily entitled to interest, the respondent University may consider its request in that regard.
With the above observation, this writ petition is disposed of.
