HON’BLE SRI JUSTICE P.NAVEEN RAO WRIT PETITION No.11507 of 2014 ORDER:
The petitioner avers that in the passport issued to him on 28.04.2005, the entry with reference to date of birth was wrongly shown. The petitioner was born on 27.07.1990, whereas in the passport it was recorded as 10.06.1983. The petitioner avers that he has represented to the passport authority to correct the date of birth, but so far no orders are passed.
2. No document is shown making any such representation so far. In fact, now the Regional Passport Officer, Regional Passport Office, Secunderabad (2nd respondent) has streamlined receipt of application and a person seeking corrections in the date of birth can make online application. Since no evidence is shown that the petitioner has already submitted an application, liberty is given to the petitioner to make an application as prescribed seeking correction of date of birth and on receipt of such application, the passport authority shall consider and pass appropriate orders as warranted by law within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of such application.
3. With the above observations, the Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Miscellaneous petitions, if any, pending in this writ petition shall stand closed.
