Petitioner is a padasekhara samithi functioning at Pazhayannur and Vadakkethara Village in Talappilly Taluk, Thrissur District. The members of the samithi are paddy cultivators in Cherukara padasekharam. It is submitted that about 1000 acres of paddy land are being cultivated by the members of the samithi. It is submitted that minor irrigation department had provided a lift irrigation scheme for providing irrigation water from Cheerakuzhy dam to the aforesaid paddy land. As per the lift irrigation scheme, prepared by the minor irrigation department, five motor pump sets are envisaged for pumping water from Kodathur canal continuously for the purpose of paddy cultivation in the aforesaid nilam. According to the petitioner, all the five motor pumps has been erected under the lift irrigation scheme are not working and two additional water pumps installed are also become functionless. Therefore, petitioner approached the District Collector by Ext.P1 on 20.10.2014.

Considering the urgency involved in the matter, I am of the view the District Collector shall take immediate action since W.P(C).No.28297 of 2014 J 2 the District Collector has already forwarded Ext.P1 to the second respondent for immediate action. Therefore, in the light of the above, the first respondent and second respondent shall take immediate action within an outer limit of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment to alleviate the grievance of the petitioner.
The Writ Petition is disposed of as above.
