(Per : HONOURABLE THE ACTING CHIEF JUSTICE MR.BHASKAR BHATTACHARYA) The Union of India is directed to file affidavit within a fortnight from today disclosing whether there exists a valid notification prohibiting sale of swords, daggers and large knives under the provisions of Arms Act. The Union of India will also take into consideration in this connection the observations of the Supreme Court in the case of Neel alias Niranjan Majumdar vs. State of West Bengal reported in (1972) 2 SCC 668 as regards the fact of existence of earlier notification under the repealed Arms Act.
Let the matter appear on July 19, 2012.
