JUDGMENT / ORDER

Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel for the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation, apart from perusing the record. Since the issue lies in a narrow compass, this Court proposes to dispose of the writ petition at the admission stage itself. 2. Briefly stated, the petitioner, who entered the service of the respondent Corporation as Junior Assistant on 01.03.1991, retired on 31.08.2013 after rendering 22 years of service. While he was in service, the petitioner intermittently absented himself from duty without leave owing to what is said to be his mental illness. By the time he retired, for the purpose of computing his terminal benefits, the petitioner's qualifying service was taken as 7 years.
3. Complaining that the leave without allowance availed W.P.(C.) No.33228/2014 -2-
by him ought to have been taken into account for the limited purpose of fixing the terminal benefits, the petitioner is said to have made Ext.P7 representation before the first respondent. Seeking its expeditious disposal, the petitioner has filed the present writ petition.
In the facts and circumstances, having regard to the respective submissions of the learned Counsel for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel, this Court, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, disposes of the writ petition with a direction to the first respondent to consider Ext.P7 representation in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders thereon, as expeditiously as possible, at any rate, within eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment. No order as to costs.
