JUDGMENT / ORDER

The petitioner is a stage carriage operator, who has been conducting services on the route Vaduvanachal- Thalassery on the strength of a regular permit. The petitioner had submitted an application for extending the route up to Kannur. The application was taken up for consideration at the meeting of the respondent held on 23.04.2013. The matter was adjourned without taking any decision thereon for the purpose of obtaining a detailed report from the Secretary, Regional Transport Authority. On 21.11.2013, the petitioner had submitted a reminder Exhibit P2. He complains that no orders have been passed in the matter, till date. 2. According to the learned Government Pleader, the petitioner's permit has been under suspended animation from March, 2014 onwards. It is for the said reason that W.P.(C) No.13957 of 2014-T -:2:-
the matter had not been considered thereafter.
3. Heard. The fact that the permit of the petitioner is under suspended animation need not deter the respondent from considering the application for extension submitted by the petitioner. The matter has been pending for an abnormally long period of time. There has been sufficient time for the Secretary to submit a report as well as to comply with the other formalities. Therefore, I find no justification for the non consideration of the petitioner's application.
This writ petition is therefore disposed of directing the respondent to consider the application for extension submitted by the petitioner, as expeditiously as possible and at any rate, at the next meeting of the respondent or within a period of two months of the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment, whichever is earlier.
