The sole prayer made in the instant petition is for issuing direction to the Principal Judge, Family Court, Meerut to decide Divorce Petition No.175 of 2018 under Section 13-B of Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 within a reasonable time.
A perusal of the order sheet reveals that although the petition was filed on basis of mutual consent, but certain disputes still remain unresolved. The next date fixed in the case is 14.8.2019.
Section 21-B of the Hindu Marriage Act specifically provides that all proceedings under the Act should be held on a day to day basis and effort should be made to conclude the proceedings as far as possible within six months from the date of service of the petition on the respondent.
In view of the aforesaid provisions under the Act, I am of the opinion that no further direction is required.
The petition is accordingly disposed of.
