The petitioner married one Sudhakaran, a native of Idukki District. The petitioner was originally born within the Kottayam District. According to the petitioner, after marriage the residence of the husband has become the permanent residence of the petitioner and therefore she is entitled for a nativity certificate showing that she belongs to the native of Idukki. This was declined.
2. This Court in Suhara V. Kerala Public Service Commission – 2012 (1) KLT 402 has held that nativity certificate can only be issued with reference to the place of birth of the applicant and place of residence has no relevance.
In view of the above decision, the issue is covered against the petitioner. Accordingly, the Writ Petition is dismissed.
