The petitioner in the writ petition is seeking a direction to the respondents to change the name of the petitioner from 'Anand Kumar Rajneesh' to 'Anand Singh Rajput' in terms of Gazette notification dated 4.11.2017 issued by the Central Government, New Delhi.
It appears from the Gazette dated 4.11.2017 that the name of the petitioner has already been changed from 'Anand Kumar Rajneesh' to 'Anand Singh Rajput'. The relevant Gazette notification has been filed as Annexure-5 to the writ petition.
No useful purpose would be served by keeping the petition pending.
The writ petition is disposed of with a direction that if the petitioner files a representation before the respondent no.2, Additional Director General of Police (Administration) DGP, Headquarter, Lucknow, within fifteen days from today along with a certified copy of this order and a copy of the Gazette notification dated 4.11.2017, the respondent no.2 shall consider and decide the same in accordance with law within a further period of one month.
It is made clear that the Court has not adjudicated the claim of the petitioner on merits.
