JUDGMENT / ORDER

The petitioner has filed the above Writ Petition to issue a writ of mandamus directing the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 12.08.2016 and pass orders to renew the firm licence of the petitioner.
2. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner gave a representation dated 12.08.2016 to the respondent for renewing the licence. However, the respondent has not passed any order on the representation so far.
3. Mr.A.N.Thambidurai, learned Special Government Pleader, appearing for the respondent submitted that the petitioner's licence had expired on 30.12.2014 itself and therefore, the petitioner had to explain the reason for not renewing the licence since 30.12.2014.
4. Having regard to the submissions made by the learned counsel on either side, taking into consideration the limited prayer sought for by the petitioner, without expressing any opinion with regard to the merits of the case, I direct the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation, including the contention raised by the learned Special Government Pleader and pass orders, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5.With these observations, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
