JUDGMENT / ORDER

Heard learned counsel for the petitioner as well as learned Chief Standing Counsel for the respondents.
The present writ petition has been filed by the petitioner under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for quashing of the order dated 30.03.2021 whereby the opposite party no.3, competent authority, has passed the order for recording sensor entry in the character roll of the petitioner herein.
Against the impugned order there is a statutory alternative remedy provided under the Uttar Pradesh Police Officers of the Subordinate Ranks (Punishment and Appeal), Rules, 1991.
In view of the statutory efficacious remedy available to the petitioner for impugning the order dated 30.03.2021 (Annexure 1), this writ petition is disposed of with liberty to the petitioner to approach the Appellate Authority within period of 15 days from today impugning the aforesaid punishment order dated 30.03.2021. In case the appeal is filed within 15 days from today, the Appellate Authority, i.e. the Commissioner of Police, Police Commissionerate, Lucknow shall take expeditious decision on the appeal in accordance with law within a period of one month thereafter. The Appellate Authority shall consider the appeal on its own merit without being influenced by the impugned order or the disposal of this writ petition by this Court.
It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the case and the writ petition is disposed of on the ground of alternative remedy.
