1. Heard learned counsel for the parties.
2. Petitioner claims to have filed an application for issue of fire arm license under heirloom category arising from the death of his father on 25.09.2014. While the said application is pending since 2014, at present, Arms Rules, 2016 have been enforced and the rights of the parties are to be governed under those Rules.
3. Accordingly, the present writ petition is disposed of with a direction, subject to the petitioner filing a fresh application for issue of fire arm license before the District Magistrate, Jaunpur within a period of three weeks from today along with a certified copy of this order, the said authority shall ensure to pass a final order on the petitioner's application strictly in accordance with law, within the timelines provided under the Arms Rules, 2016 such that, in any case, the application proposed to be filed by the petitioner may be heard and decided as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of three months from the date of filing such application.
