1. Petitioner has sought a writ of mandamus commanding respondents to consider him for promotion to the post of Stenographer Grade-I considering his tenure of service rendered as Stenographer Grade II as well as seniority.
2. Learned counsel for petitioner has not stated any where that any promotion of junior to petitioner has been made ignoring claim of petitioner. Mere fact that petitioner has rendered certain length of service as Stenographer Grade-II does not entitle him to claim promotion as no such provision has been shown to this Court.
3. However, we have no manner of doubt that if vacancies of Stenographer Grade-I are existing since long, respondents shall take appropriate expeditious steps for filling up the same by considering eligible persons for promotion so that legitimate expectations of employees working in the department of getting promotion on higher post within reasonable time are not adversely affected.
4. With aforesaid observation, writ petition is dismissed.
