Public Prosecutor ORDER The present criminal original petition has been filed seeking a direction to the second respondent to complete the investigation and file final report in FIR No.1893 of 2016 dated 23.9.2016 and report the same within the time frame fixed by this Court.
2. It is the case of the petitioner that on 30.6.2016, 26 sovereigns of gold jewels were found missing in his house and hence, immediately, he lodged a complaint with the respondent police and on receipt of the same, the respondent police issued CSR No.571/CSR/J3-Crime /2016. Thereafter, since no action was taken on the said complaint, the petitioner filed a petition in Crl.O.P.No.16806 of 2016 before this Court and this Court, by order dated 8.8.2016, directed the second respondent to conduct enquiry and if any cognizable offence is made out, the second respondent was directed to register a regular case. Pursuant to the said direction, the second respondent enquired into the petitioner's complaint and registered a case in FIR No.1893 of 2016. However, thereafter, no action was taken on the said complaint. Hence, the petition.
3. Today, when the matter was taken up for consideration, learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that the respondent police is still searching the accused person and hence, he seeks time to file final report.
4. In view of the said submission made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, this Court directs the second respondent to investigate the case in FIR No.1893 of 2016 and file final report, as expeditiously as possible, preferably, within a period of six weeks from Police, Adyar Range, L.B.Road, Adyar, Chennai-20.
2. The Inspector of Police, J-3, Guindy Police Station, Guindy, Chennai-32.
3. The Public Prosecutor, High Court, Madras.
