JUDGMENT / ORDER

The petitioner has filed the above Writ Petition to issue a writ of mandamus directing the first respondent to dispose of his appeal dated 15.11.2016 filed against the order passed by the 2nd respondent dated 14.10.2016, in respect of the claim of Gun License, within a stipulated time.
2. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that though the petitioner has filed the appeal as early as on 15.11.2016, challenging the order passed by the 2nd respondent, the first respondent has not disposed of the same.
3. Mr.A.N.Thambidurai, learned Special Government Pleader taking notice for the respondents submitted that the first respondent may be directed to dispose of the appeal in accordance with law within a time frame.
4. Having regard to the submissions made by the learned counsel on either side, taking into consideration the limited prayer sought for in the Writ Petition, without expressing any opinion with regard to the merits of the case, I direct the first respondent to dispose of the petitioner's appeal dated 15.11.2016, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5. With this observation, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
