JUDGMENT / ORDER

[Order of the Court was made by M.M.SUNDRESH, J.] When the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned counsel for the respondents produced a copy of the communication, dated 28.08.2017, which indicates a sum of Rs.1,13,560/- has been paid. In such view of the matter, this Contempt petition stands closed. However, interest commuted has not been paid.
2.The learned counsel for the respondents would submit that as per the procedure, the amount has been disbursed by taking into consideration of the seniority. This Court is unable to accept the said contention. This is a question of complying with the order passed by this Court on considering the request made by the respondents. However, both the learned Single Judge and the Division Bench granted payment of interest. Thus, has to be complied with mandatory.
3.In such view of the matter, the respondents are directed to pay the interest within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
