JUDGMENT / ORDER

By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal. Mrs.T.Girija, learned Government Advocate accepts notice on behalf of the 1st respondent and Mr.R.Bala Ramesh, learned counsel accepts notice on behalf of the respondents 2 and 3.
2 The petitioner would state that his father P.Raman was appointed as Sugarcane Assistant in the services of Kethandapatti Cooperative Sugar Mills, Thirupathur Taluk, Vellore District and he died in harness on 20.04.2009, leaving behind his wife, daughter as well as the petitioner. According to the petitioner, the family is solely depending upon the income earned by [late] Raman, and on account of his sudden and tragic demise, they are left in lurch and the petitioner has also submitted an application dated 21.12.2009 seeking compassionate ground appointment in commensurate with his qualification and also submitted representations for expeditious consideration of his application and it was replied by stating that his accommodation by way of compassionate ground appointment will be considered as per the seniority maintained by the said Mill. 3 The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner has drawn the attention of this Court to the proceedings of the Special Officer of Thirupathur Cooperative Sugar Mills, Kethandapatti, Thirupathur Taluk, Vellore District and would submit that as per the said communication, the petitioner is in Sl.No.17 and though nearly four years had lapsed, no response is forthcoming from the said Mill as to the request made by the petitioner for compassionate ground appointment and as a consequence, the family is suffering very much and prays for appropriate orders.
4 Mr.R.Bala Ramesh, learned counsel appearing for the respondents 2 and 3 would submit that the request made by the petitioner will be considered and disposed of as expeditiously as possible.
5 The Court heard the submissions of Mrs.T.Girija, learned Government Advocate appearing for the 1st respondent.
6 Though the petitioner has prayed for a larger relief, this Court, in the light of the above facts and circumstances and without going into the merits of the claim projected by the petitioner, directs the Special Officer/District Revenue Officer of Thirupathur Cooperative Sugar Mills, Kethandapatti-635815, Vellore District, to consider the request made by the petitioner seeking appointment on compassionate ground on merits and in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and communicate the decision taken, to the petitioner.
7 The writ petition stands disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
