Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and Sri Udit Chandra, learned counsel for the Power Corporation.
The grievance of the petitioner is that exaggerated amount of Rs.3,40,104/- is being claimed from her though, on own enqniry made by the respondents, it was found that the meter reading was about 83% in excess of the reading recorded in the check meter installed at the petitioner's premises on her earlier complaint.
We note that under Clause 6.5 of the U.P. Electricity Supply Code, 2005, the petitioner has an adequate remedy to file an objection seeking correction in the bill.
In the present case where a preliminary enquiry has revealed discrepancy in the meter reading, we provide, the petitioner may file a complaint for correction of her bill within a period of two weeks from today before respondent no.4 along with a copy of this order and shall also deposit a sum of Rs.30,000/-. Upon doing so, the said respondent shall proceed to pass a reasoned order on the petitioner's complaint within two weeks therefrom after affording an opportunity of hearing to the parties.
Considering the fact that the petitioner is a widow lady, it is expected that the balance amount, if any, may be directed to be deposited within such time as the respondent no.4 may consider appropriate.
