Heard learned counsel for the petitioner; the learned Standing Counsel for the respondents 1 to 5; and have perused the record.
The petitioner is a widow and has a grievance against her two sons and daughters-in-law in connection with which, it is stated, she has approached the District Authorities for protection of her life and property by taking recourse to the provisions of Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 and the Rules, 2014 framed thereunder.
The prayer in this petition is to direct the concerned respondents to take a decision on her representation dated 07.01.2021 submitted in that regard.
Without expressing any opinion on the merits of the claim of the petition, we deem it appropriate to dispose off this petition by requiring the second respondent (District Magistrate, Mirzpur) to take a decision on the representation of the petitioner, expeditiously, in accordance with law, after giving opportunity of hearing to the concerned respondents, preferably, within a period of four weeks from the date of filing a copy of this order in his office.
